With hope in her eyes, she looks up to me.  Those innocent eyes keep asking me that rhetorical question silently.

“This is why we come into this world”?  In this twenty-first century, where the world is on the path of rapid modernisation and nations are aiming towards development of their infrastructure, and resources; away from this metamorphism is a place where I live, yes, it is my birth place patna.

Since Childhood I was raised like any other normal girl.  The difference occured when my parents decided to enter me into that institution where one’s future gets changed.  Girls dream of getting into it.  “Education” is the weapon which my parents wanted me to get equipped with.  This thing transformed me.  Once on a visit to my village, I came to learn that my cousin was going to get drop her studies as her father was insisting on her marriage.  I was appalled! One other occasion, I met Lakshmi, my maid’s daughter who had to help her mother and sacrifice her studies in return.

How can one ruin one’s life?  This was the question I kept asking?  Blessed as I was, I thanked God for blessing me with such wonderful gifts and prayed that he might shower those some blessings on those who are less fortunate than me.

After a few months, my prayers were answered.  My cousin had gone for her higher studies, refusing to tie the “knot” and Lakshmi was no longer seeing me with those helpless eyes as she is going to school now.  That was when I got my answers…. It’s not the circumstances that compel us to give up but it’s us who willingly surrender ourselves to those circumstances.”

Today I no longer ask any question to God because I have learnt that being a girl is the most beautiful gift which God has given me and He has sent me to this world with a special mission.
