Let’s start with the fact that I am not an avid cricket fan. But I am a fan of new technology. So when YOUTUBE was going to broadcast live (OK Live is an overstatement – because there is a five minute delay) – I was excited. We were ushering into a new era … I logged onto youtube.com/ipl exactly at 8:00 PM and clicked to watch the live stream … and then .. nothing..

“WE ARE EXPERIENCING TECHNICAL DIFFICULTIES”… or something as such the message said. I was very disappointed but kept trying again. And again. I also scanned through the chat board on the IPL site and could clearly see that I was not the only one that was having problem streaming the live video stream. Mind you, I was trying to watch the match from my office where I have a dedicated 3 Mbps connection in Delhi.

When the LIVESTREAM worked – the picture quality was very poor and the voice was inaudible. The experience overall was not very good and the expectations set up by YOUTUBE/Google were great.

I could not watch the first match of IPL 2010 due to some technical problem. Please do something as quickly as you can.

Youtube, IMPROVE THE VIDEO QUALITY of the broadcast. The picture quality is pathetic the free illegal streams have better quality.

its kool that IPL is on youtube but the quality guys isnt that great.. if u compare the videos uploaded above with the live match stream.. theres big difference.. i wish the video quality of the live stream was like the videos posted above.. i watched the match on other free streaming sites on sopcast cuz wasnt happy with the quality here… if the mods & admins & ppl concerned r reading this then guys.. improve the video quality of the stream plz.. have it more sharper & clearer..

YOUTUBE is the official channel for the live streaming matches for IPL. The attempt by Youtube to launch LIVE STREAMING at such a grand scale is truly commendable. The goal was to bring the game live to millions. But unfortunately the technology may not have been ready to handle this. I hope that YouTube will resolve the problems and we will finally be able to watch LIVE Streaming on the INTERNET. Cause if GOOGLE can’t make it work – then who can?
