Subject: The heavy price of undervaluing emotional intelligence

Dearest Friends,

Namaskar.

I seek to share with you some thoughts on the alchemy of love. Alchemy means a form of chemistry and speculative philosophy practiced in the middle Ages and the Renaissance and concerned principally with discovering methods for transmuting baser metals into gold and with finding a universal solvent and an elixir of life.

Alchemy also means any magical power or process of transmuting a common substance, usually of little value, into a substance of great value.

In Ancient India also, Paras chemistry had been in vogue for centuries together.

An entry into the world of spirituality will, however, give us a real alchemic power. We will migrate from worldliness to divinity. From human-beings, we will transform into spiritual beings. However, this journey from negativism to positivism is a slow but steady process.

The loving people bless us with the power to extend love, compassion and mercy to everybody irrespective of anything.

Love means liking somebody, caring for him, helping him, and making him happy and prosperous; doing all this without any worldly motive. Compassion is elevation of love to a state where one’s mind melts into taking care of others even at the cost of one’s own comforts. Mercy is when you totally ignore the faults and vices of others and still enthusiastically help them with love.

The alchemic process includes prayerful practice of tolerance and forgiveness and forgetting these good deeds immediately so that these do not create any sense of authorship.

Sweet, gentle and affectionate language is to be demonstrated in all walks of life and is to be sincerely used for one’s own and others’ happiness.

The worth of every breath of human life is to be cashed by working hard for obtaining freedom from prejudice, condemnation, hatred, enmity, jealousy and negativism of all forms.

Psychologists use the word emotional intelligence for love. According to them, it is the self-perceived ability to identify, assess and control the emotions of oneself, of others, and of groups. This expression involves the capability to perceive and positively influence one’s own and other people’s emotion.

Modern psychologists and psychiatrists have been trying to do justice to love, compassion, mercy, tolerance, forgiveness, sweet/ gentle language and a humanist behavior by comprehensively calling all these traits as essential components of emotional intelligence.

If hatred, jealousy, enmity, condemnation/ criticism are not shunned, the mind will go on accumulating the effect and psychosomatic diseases will follow. Similarly our peace of mind, family-life and social dealings will become the next prey, thereby creating a hell for us here in our immediate life. This will radiate and affect others also.

Consequences of undervaluing emotional intelligence do help us to understand its value. We may choose to learn lessons from our miseries and adversities. We are surely in a position to evaluate ourselves.

As prose is failing me in expressing my views, I resort to use of a song composed my me:

My dear earth is the best island

In the vast-vast ocean of divinity

Sun, moon, stars are her servants

Who team up like a trinity

The people of earth my family

Don’t call it even a community.

Than Pan-Arab, Pan-American

Pan-human, a better affinity

If any body dose not love me

I love him with impunity.

To love everyone everywhere

This life is an opportunity.

And to save us from any hatred

Lord, give us some immunity.

You live in everybody on earth:

Pray, make us know this unity.

It is requested that your personal findings about the on the above subject may be shared with me so that we could work collectively for making our lives a paradise on earth.

Yours faithfully,
H.S. Nirman
